Brayden’s 2nd Airplane Ride

Brayden’s first vacation adventure was last October when we went to Colorado for 10 days. This time, my parents asked if him and I wanted to tag along back to my hometown in Western Nebraska for a couple of days to see some family. I couldn’t say no! My aunts, uncles, and friends haven’t gotten to meet Brayden, so it was definitely worth the trip. As most of you know, my dad is a pilot, so Brayden had his first plane ride with Grandpa this week.

The 4 hour plane ride really beats 12 hours in the car. And Brayden LOVES it. Actually, he sleeps through most of it, but for the time he is awake, he is really content.
We had a great visit with family and friends, they all loved Brayden, and I was so glad we went. But it was so nice to be back home to my husband, comfortable bed, and routine.

Vacay Recap

So we went to the Dells this weekend (Wisconsin Dells for those of you who aren’t familiar) with Brandon’s mom, brothers, girlfriends, and fam. I was slightly nervous because Brayden did not love the idea of anything that had to do with water this summer, but I figured maybe he would grow out of that. Not so much.

Brayden and Brynn watched Cars and Toy Story.

Brynn tried so hard to get Brayden to come play, but he just wasn’t into it.
Brayden FINALLY got in the water with his clothes on during the last half hour we were at the water park on the last day. Go figure. I didn’t even try to put his trunks back on, I just let him go in his clothes. It wasn’t worth the fight. He found a “steering wheel” that made the water come through the pipes, and he was happy with that for a little while.
And I forgot my camera (I know, right?) so these are from Bria’s camera. :)
We just got home a little bit ago and I have already started the laundry and dishes. My google reader was almost at 500- so I am working on reading and commenting on some of my fave blogs! Did you all have a good weekend?

Back and Relaxed

I survived aloneness for 3 days- and I am back to the grind.  My time in Orlando with Sheana was fabulous!  We had such a great time laughing, chatting, shopping, eating, and people watching. I have also decided that I don’t want to take Brayden or any other future children to Disney World until they are at least 8. :) Just an observation.

Sadly, I took very few photos while I was gone! :( We were too busy to stop and take pictures. But here are the few that I have!

The beautiful, huge Christmas tree at the Millienia Mall.

We didn’t actually do any parks, but we went to Downtown Disney which was really fun!

We took the ferry boat to the other side of Downtown Disney so we could walk and see all of it in a shorter amount of time.

Me and Sheana! :)

It was nice to go and have some uninterrupted girl time, eat some delicious food, and see Sheana’s new place! I can’t WAIT to go back. The outlet malls there are fabulous…so says the stack of receipts that I have!

On a Jet Plane

I am blogging currently from 10,00 feet. I am off to Orlando until early Tuesday morning to see my college roomie, Sheana, and have some girl time! I will admit, I cried when the boys dropped me off at the airport. I have never left Brayden for this long before! BUT he is in good hands with his dad- that is for sure.

Sheana and I have lots of shopping, eating, relaxing, and chatting planned for my time there. I can’t wait! SO until Tuesday…

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Vacation Photos- Part 5

This is the last batch!

There was a cute little playground at the resort we stayed at, so when the wind died down, we took Brayden out there to play for about 20 minutes. He loved it!

Sleepy boy. I LOVE his winter hat.

Horseback Riding and Parents of the Year

As part of our trip, Brandon, myself, and my sister went horseback riding with the other family that is here with us. Their little girls (10,8, and 6) couldn’t wait! Brandon has never ridden before, and it has been 10+ years since I was on a horse.

I wasn’t nervous at ALL. These horses are trained, their trainers are very thorough, and they have been doing the rides for many, many years.

All of that went away when I got on my horse, and she didn’t want to follow the trainer over to start forming our line for our ride. She kept backing up and pretty soon, her front legs went up, I kind of freaked, and ended up falling onto a metal railing. The trainers caught me before I did any awesome gymnast moves over that bar, thankfully. My hip is still pretty sore, but I didn’t think anything of it. Until I looked over, and Lexi, the youngest girl with us, had big crocodile tears in her eyes. She saw the whole thing and was completely freaked. Honestly, I didn’t want to get back on the horse, but I had to for her. And I really wasn’t hurt. (It was the second day that felt the worst!)

The trainer said she honestly had no idea what happened, because the reigns were loose and the only time they got tight on the horse was when I was falling. Those things happen, and I had to get back up on the horse (pun intended) so that Lexi would go and have fun.

It was worth it. The view was incredible! I decided not to take my camera for fear that the noise would spook the horses, but trust me, it was amazing. I was so glad I went, but also very glad to get off of that horse! I am still sore!

————————————————————————————————————-

In other news, Brandon and I will definitely be getting Parents of the Year awards. If you have any to give out, e-mail me, and I will give you my address. Seriously, I am still humiliated.

The last two nights of our trip, we stayed in a hotel. My parents gave us their suite so that there was more room for Brayden to run around in, and they didn’t need all of that extra space! So, it’s 2 rooms, one is a living room, one is a bedroom, adjoining door, etc. Brayden slept great the first night, and the next morning we were just hanging out in the bedroom part of our suite. Brayden was in the other part where I could see him, playing with his trucks on the chair.

Then, he shut the adjoining door. And Brandon and I were on the side where there no door knob on the adjoining door.

Oh, and as a bonus? The actual room door was still dead bolted and chained from the night before.

Cue the award ceremony for Parents of the Year.

Brayden isn’t tall enough to open the door from his side, and it’s an actual round knob, not like the longer pulls we have at our house. Brandon talked to him through the door while I called the front desk. They sent the creepiest person up EVER. Scruffy voice, scary guy. He ended up having to break the lock on the big door to get to Brayden, and when Brayden saw the guy, he lost it.

Cue the acceptance speeches.

He was only in there for about 5-10 minutes alone, and he was right next to the door the entire time. There wasn’t anything he could really hurt or get into so that was good. But seriously, I felt like an idiot. I was sitting right there, not 3 feet from him, and he is SO fast.

Between horseback riding and Brayden’s I’m-locking-myself-out-of-your-sight incident, my nerves are shot. Pray for me as we fly home today.

Vacation Photos- Part 4

Elk we saw- so pretty!

Snowy Mountains

My little boy that can’t sit still long enough after a diaper change to put pants on. Seriously.

Big Horn Sheep right on the side of the road.

Demoing my new lens in the camera store. Pretty sweet!

My loves.

We found four pennies sitting on this rock, so we added a couple of dimes.

Love.
I didn’t edit any of these- the colors were just that rich and just gorgeous. The new lens is turning out to be a great choice, and I can’t wait to get home and decide which photos I want to get printed! I can’t decide if I want to try to digi-scrap for the first time, or do a photo book. Decisions, decisions.
Also? Tuesday is going to suck. Big time. Goodbye Colorado, hello reality.

Vacation Photos- Part 3

I am not excited to go home Monday. It is way too pretty here. *sigh*

Vacation Photos- Part 2

Since we have arrived, it has been extremely windy here, and snowing up in the mountains, so I haven’t been able to really take the photos I want to yet. We did venture out yesterday for a little bit and drove back down the canyon. My ultimate goal as far as photos go on this vacation is to get enough great shots to blow up and frame for my mom’s living room. So far, she likes what I have!

This last one is a snow storm coming in. Isn’t that neat? The picture quality is poor since I was trying to get the shot while we were driving.

I think after Brayden goes down for a nap, Brandon and I will venture up to the mountains and snap some more. I am now wishing I had a wide-angle lens, but hey, what can you do?

Sleep Training on Vacation

Obviously, when you travel, you leave behind the comforts of home. This has been a tad harder than I imagined. With no rocking chair, our nap and bedtime routines are suffering. Brandon seems to think this won’t be the worst thing in the world once we get home- we might have ourselves a little boy that can put himself to sleep! But let me tell you, it has been hard.

The first night we were gone, Brayden was so exhausted from traveling that he was out in 5 minutes flat. No crying, no issues, and slept great. The second night? I fell asleep laying by the pack and play upstairs. I figure if I lay there and don’t respond, he would at least feel comforted that I was there. It worked, but Brandon had to come wake me up to go to bed.

Last night? Well it started out rough and never got better as you can read from my previous post. Today’s nap? I swayed him in my arms for about 5 minutes, then laid him down, walked out of the room, and let him cry for about 8 minutes. He was out.

I know for some of you this sounds like a small victory, but it is SO hard to listen to him cry for that long, especially since he was up in the night as well. It makes my skin crawl, and I can’t make a decision of what to do with him for the life of me. Thankfully, Brandon and my mom are here to help me. If it was Brayden and I alone, I would have caved and we would be at square one.

He has only been taking one nap a day since we have been here, so I am thinking that maybe that will help as well. He might be so tired at the end of the day, I might not have to fight him for as long. *sigh* Maybe there will be a light at the end of this tunnel.
