It’s Monday…

…that’s about all I got. It’s Monday! :)

  • Brayden had his last Kindermusik class of the semester today. It was filled with everyone’s favorite things and we had so much fun. It has been so great for him, although I am not sure if we will be back in the fall. With Kenley being around the 1 year mark by then, I would have to do separate classes for each and I am not sure if an hour drive plus finding someone to keep the other every week would be a good idea.
  • Our weekend was pretty great. I got a sweet card from the hubs for Mother’s Day and I got to grocery shop alone! The weather was beautiful so we enjoyed some outdoor time as well.
  • The beautiful weather makes me wish I would have NEVER agreed to this clothing challenge. I need skirts/shorts- I am hot already and it has only been like 80* here. *sigh*
  • My running endeavor isn’t going as well as I had hoped, but I am not discouraged yet! I have been stretching daily so I don’t hurt myself and I am hoping to go a few evenings this week. I knew it would take time, so I can’t give up just yet!
  • This gorgeous weather is just a floating reminder that I am nowhere near bikini ready- and my goal is to wear a bikini on our vacation in January. Fingers crossed!

How was your Monday?

The Story of 2 Worthless Cats

We have 2 cats. Sisters, from the same litter, that we got from friends. Oh how I loved those baby kitties. So snuggly and cute.

Cute, right?

Well, then they got older, and we moved, and we had babies, and I just don’t have the time for them like I did before. Instead of them crawling into my lap at the end of the day, I had kids that took up the space. And after having kids constantly hanging on me all day long, I started kicking them off the bed because I couldn’t stand getting trampled on in the middle of the night. They still get attention, but they are clearly not running the show around here anymore.

And for good reason.

They are not good hunters.

They are good at pointing out when there is a mouse in the house, but come time to deliver a dead rodent, these would NOT be the cats you want. I always know when there is a rodent lurking under the stove or dishwasher because these two start going crazy. Luckily, it’s not very often considering the fact that we live next to a field. I would say we have probably caught maybe 7 or 8 mice in the last 5 years- I hate them but it’s just part of country living.

Apparently, so is getting up at 2:30am to discover your cats have a mouse cornered in your master bathroom and it gives you the creeps so bad so you get up the hubby and he clobbers the mouse with a shoe and then takes it outside. Yes, at 2:30am. I was so mad, I could have just screamed. The cats were just PLAYING with the mouse like it was a toy! KILL IT. I was so creeped out that it took me almost an hour and a half to go back to sleep.

And then this morning? The cats were crying because their food dish only had a few bittles left, and I was like “Umm, you wouldn’t be hungry if you were HUNTERS and killed that mouse!”

Seriously, sometimes I feel like I need a TV show because this stuff can’t happen to other people. I swear it’s just us.

Monday Randoms

  • Bear with me, there is just a lot of randomness going on.
  • Brandon’s cousin got married over the weekend. It was beautiful and fun but taking 2 kids to a wedding is a TON OF WORK. Tons. My sister ended up getting Brayden from us around 8 because he was over it, but he was really well behaved. By the time we got home and K ate and went to bed? Past 11. So late for me these days, and I am exhausted.
  • K still isn’t totally interested in the sippy cup and HATED the bottle. The pediatrician said to stick with the cup and she will get the hang of it. I am SO hoping it’s soon. I know, it sounds terrible, but between teeth, her being disinterested, etc, it’s just time.
  • Brayden is talking nonstop and it’s so cute, but half the time, I feel like I need a translator!
  • Over the weekend, my mom, sister, and I were making lists for her wedding! I am SO excited! It will be here before we know it.
  • I am tired.

Saturday Photo Dump

This nice weather is REALLY nice but it’s also REALLY screwing up my plans. I needed it to be cold and miserable a little longer so we could finish some house projects. I mean, I LOVE the weather, but I feel like everyone is going crazy since it feels like summer.

Everyone needs to chill out. It is STILL only MARCH.

Phew. SO yes, we got kind of busy and Brayden is all like “OUTSIDE” every spare second we have. My house looks like it too. K is currently napping as I type this and get caught up on a few things and Brayden is with Grandma Michelle running errands. He just wanted OUTSIDE. So, Gramma to the rescue and now I get to write in peace and clean. YAY.

Let’s get to the photos, shall we?

Shoes I got for a few weddings.

THIS started happening. She likes the sippy!

Love her giggles.

Walks in the new stroller with Grandma

Walks at home with my boy- the helper.

It’s been a pretty eventful week! In the midst of the new sippy cup, new stroller walks, and being pushed down the driveway, Fancy Little Things launched this week, and I am so excited to be on board as the photographer author/contributor. It’s a wonderful website, and I hope you have all taken a peek at it!

Now, I must finish cleaning this place up, making my grocery list/meal plan, and getting my head on for another busy week.

Monday Randoms

  • Is the time change bothering any of you yet?
  • I have something amazing in the works and I can’t wait to share details very, very soon! Note: Not a sibling for my kiddos. Just to be clear….
  • I got to meet my friend Sheana for lunch last week. It was amazing! We definitely ate until we were stuffed to the brim. We also got to hit up Target where…
  • after receiving an amazingly generous $20 gift card from Maegan, this top came home to live with me! I got it in purple and I LOVE it. I wish I had it in every color/print it came in.

Happy Monday!

Randomness

Kenley and Brayden had well checks like 2 weeks ago and I forgot to post about it. Brayden was 32.5 inches, 31 pounds- pretty much still 75th percentile for everything. The peanut, well, she’s a peanut. 11 pounds, 15 ounces (10th percentile) and I can’t remember length but it was 50th percentile. They are happy, healthy, Brayden’s speech is progressing- not much to report, I suppose! Kenley is rolling from tummy to back (not all the time) and is very, very close to being able to sit up on her own.

Didn’t we just bring her home? Seriously.

She is in 3-6 month or 6 month sleepers, and some of her 3 month pants are getting a little on the short side. Brayden is all of the sudden outgrowing 2T everything, and I just bought him 2 new pairs of shoes in a size 8. Overnight, he just grew! He will for sure need all new shorts this summer.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————–

We got a promotion for satellite radio for my car. We have never subscribed but once in a while I get a 2 week free trial! It’s pretty awesome, but not really something I wanted to pay a lot of money for. Well, with this last 2 week trial came a card where I could get it for 6 months for $25! What a steal, right? Brandon said if I could give up my weekly Starbuck’s for a month that I could get it. I called to activate and now I just have to get the signal sent when I leave the house. Pretty excited!

——————————————————————————————————————————————————-

I started a book for Kenley on Shutterfly right after she was born. I WISH I would have made one for Brayden, but oh well. So far, I am up to 59 pages…eesh! It’s turning out really awesome, and once a week I try to sit down and keep it up to date.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————–

I found a very unhappy surprise in my car a little while ago- a leaky zippy, full of chunky old milk- it left a nasty smelling spot right underneath the driver’s seat. My hubs will not be thrilled I have a feeling. SO I guess after K wakes up and is fed, I will head out to the garage and try to get it out! Ugh.

Saturday Randoms

  • Hubby has his eyes fixed with LASIK surgery this past week! Much needed. He isn’t a very easy patient, though, that is FOR SURE. He isn’t a “rester”, he’s a “I constantly have to be doing something” kind of person.
  • Kenley has a slight cold, but I really thought it was an ear infection. A trip to the pediatrician yesterday said otherwise, and she is definitely feeling better. I was getting concerned because she wasn’t latching/eating very well. A sore throat explains it!
  • Low key weekend planned here. I am going to see a couple girlfriends this morning then probably just hang out at my parents house. Not sure what the boys have planned but I am sure it will be a good time.
  • Brayden climbed in our bed when I got up with Kenley and fell back asleep. The snoring coming from that room was pretty epic.
  • Brayden’s new word this week: Mine. HELP US ALL.

What are your weekend plans?

Friday Photo Dump

I was going through my phone the other day (getting it prepped to downsize to  16gb iPhone 4S!) and found some cute photos that I couldn’t resist sharing.

Cute bath time baby girl!

All dressed up for a bridal shower.

Sleepy big brother.

Playdate with Chloe!

Now that the holidays are over, I see us falling into a different rhythm. It’s better, not as chaotic, more intentional. Brayden’s little mind is just a sponge and I am trying my absolute hardest to turn even the most boring days at home into something interesting for him. We haven’t been going to Kindermusik since Kenley was born- it is just a LOT to get both kids out the door on time…but now that we are finding a groove again, I MIGHT sign us up for Spring semester. Brayden really enjoyed it, and I think he needs the interaction with other kids. Hopefully, we can make it work!

Friday Randomness

My brain is scattered today, so lucky YOU! YOU get to read it al here! :)

  • Kenley had her 2 month appointment yesterday. She was 10lbs 2 oz, and 22 inches long. Girl is growing! Doctor said she looks great. I didn’t have any questions for her about Kenley, but I did ask her what her thoughts were on Brayden’s sleep disruptions. He has been getting up in the night and crawling in our bed. He wants the tv on, but doesn’t cry/have a fever/etc.I just tell him that it’s not time to get up (because its been 2am, 4am, 5:30am) and put him back to bed- and he is fine. She said that since Kenley’s arrival, his sleep pattern is just disrupted. She told me to give him 3mg of Melatonin (one tablet) one hour before bedtime for 3 weeks. This will help his sleep pattern, and in turn get him some more REM sleep, which he desperately needs! We started Wednesday night, and so far, so good.
  • I am in the baking mood! UGH. My waistline is going to hate me when December is over.
  • I only have a few Christmas gifts left to buy! WOO! I have done a LOT of my shopping online. I love online shopping.
  • I have a photo shoot tomorrow. I am nervous (like always) and have decided after this one, I am going to step back for awhile. I need to practice more, learn about lighting, my camera, etc. We’ll see what comes this spring.
What does your weekend look like?

Happy Monday!

Today, I must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. My patience with Brayden has been very, very thin, and I am just trying to compose myself so that I don’t say/do something I will regret later. He is happily watching Toy Story 3 on my lap right now, so that’s good!

I am really looking forward to this short week- knowing that Brandon will FOR SURE be home Thursday so we can spend Thanksgiving with our families is making me very, very excited. He didn’t work yesterday- thankfully- but it is always such a tease! I dread Mondays.

In case some of you missed my photo last week- I got a haircut.

This is how I looked when I left the salon. I LOVE it. My husband, however, is NOT impressed so far…but it’s just hair. It will grow back. It’s a big change but definitely better than chopping my hair off. I have been growing it out for a year now!

How was your weekend? Are you ready for Thanksgiving?
