Best Purchase Ever

I was reading Ashley’s blog not too long ago when she posted about a LightScoop that she bought for her camera. Since our living room has no direct sunlight that comes into it because of the way the front room is, I knew I HAD to get one.

Here are some examples of the crummy photos I was getting with my flash only.

*Collective sigh over vintage Baby Brayden!*

These pictures do not look natural at all. His face is very white (due to the flash) and the background is SO very dark.

Enter the LightScoop. I took these on Thursday in the living room with only one lamp on and no overhead light.

Do you see that incredible difference? It makes it look like sunlight actually reaches my living room! I don’t have to mess with a zillion settings or bring it a stadium grade light to take normal pictures of my kiddos! YAY!

I highly recommend one, if your lighting in your house isn’t great. Makes a HUGE difference!

And yes, not portrait material of Brayden, but he was busy and didn’t want to be bothered. Oh toddlers.

Baby Paxton

I got to meet Paxton next week, and he was gracious enough (and patient enough!) for me to take some pictures of him. Here he is at 9 days old.

Isn’t he a sweetie? I had a great time visiting the new parents and meeting their little guy. I am sure there will be a few more visits in the coming weeks- I can’t get enough of him!

Paper Mama Photo Challenge: Little Details

Once again, I am linking up with The Paper Mama’s Photo Challenge! This week? The little details.

Brayden’s eyelashes are SO long and SO gorgeous. I mean, handsome. :) I can’t get enough of them!

Favorite from September

Once again, I am linking up with The Paper Mama for her weekly photo challenge! This week? Favorite photo from the month of September…

Brayden and I had a playdate with some friends at a local family farm. They give rides in this “caterpillar” behind a lawn mower. Brayden LOVED it. And he looks just like his dad when he drives- arm out the side, one hand on the wheel. Too stinkin’ cute.

Photo Challenge: Friends

I am linking up again this week with The Paper Mama’s photo challenge. This week’s theme? Friends.

This photo is of Brayden and his buddy Caden at approximately 6-7 months old (I can’t remember!). They are buds and it is so fun watching them grow together! Caden is 10 days older than Brayden, and Caden’s mommy, Laura, is pregnant with Caden’s baby sister Chloe- due 5 weeks after me! It has been SO fun going through this journey with her, and I know our kids will always have fun together!

The Paper Mama

Photo Challenge {Red}

This week, I am linking up somewhere new! I saw on my friend Maegan’s blog that she was linking up with The Paper Mama for a photography challenge once a week! I thought it would be fun to participate as much as possible…so here is my photo for this week.

The challenge this week: Red.

As a CASE IH farm wife, I have PLENTY of photos with red, but the rules are that your kiddos must be present in the photos! I took this photo last fall of Brandon and Brayden while we were visiting during harvest. It is one of my most treasured photos. I love that my husband loves what he does, and that he loves to share it with our son.

Family Photos

My talented friend Laura once again did our family photos, and I could not be more thrilled with them! Brayden lost interest pretty fast, but she was able to get some great photos. As huge as I feel, I know I will treasure these for a lifetime. I can’t wait to do more photos once our baby girl arrives!

Sunset

I took this last night. Made me very excited to be behind the lens again.

Uninspired

I have been feeling so uninspired lately, and my poor camera is getting the brunt of it. My 365 Photo project is going to end up being less than 100 photos by the end of the year at this rate. And it’s not because I don’t love it anymore, I just ended up in a lull I guess.

In need of inspiration, sometimes I think about looking into an art history
online course
to see what other photographers have done in the past.

Between feeling mostly nauseous lately, house projects still looming, toddler tantrums, and 1st trimester exhaustion, I just haven’t had the energy to go out seeking any decent photography. And I have to tell you, I am kind of sad about it.

So, starting now- I vow to pick up the camera, fall in love again, learn it’s total potential, and just maybe finally figure out Photoshop. Maybe.

How do you get out of a photography slump? What inspires you?
