A couple of weeks ago, I got completely fed up with the changing table in Kenley’s room. We bought it along with the crib before we had Brayden, so it’s definitely gotten a ton of use. But the open shelving was just a disaster area ALL the time, the cats go behind there and the extra clutter that it collected was starting to drive me insane.
I started looking online for a dresser that I could use as a changing table. The one I absolutely loved? $500. Not a chance, said the hubs. And I really didn’t want to spend that much on one either. I decided to wait, keep looking, and just keep dealing with what I had.
A few days later, we were up at my aunts. She has been selling some furniture for a friend (which is where I got the side table for Kenley’s room) so I asked her if she by chance had a dresser that would work as a changing table as well. Wouldn’t you know it, she did! It is one that she redid/painted a long time ago. She said I could “borrow” it for 18 years because if she ever finds a place for it in their home, she might want it back! That was fine by me!
We just changed out the hardware and after some organizing, we were set!
Cute, right? And to think that my aunt painted that! The top drawer has a divider in the middle, so diapers/wipes/creams/etc go on that side and the other side houses her burp cloths, socks, and hats. The middle drawer has onesies and pants, and the bottom drawer is pajamas. It freed up a lot of closet room as well, and now everything is contained instead of just out for everyone to see. It’s much better!
And just for fun, here is the other side of her room. I have been using my Nest of Posies bag as a diaper bag the last few days (Thank you Maegan!), and have all of her shoes/booties in the little basket on the table. The pile of clothes on the right? Already too small. So sad. Truth be told, having all the girly, fun things in her room is a LOT of fun. Don’t even ask to see Brayden’s room right now. It’s next on my list for an overhaul!
