Trip to the Apple Orchard

Last weekend, we made our annual trip to the apple orchard. I love everything about it- the cider samples, apple samples, hot apple cider donuts, caramel apple cider, and getting to take it all home with me! Last year, Brayden was tiny and rode nice and snug in the infant carrier. This year? He wanted to run wild. What a difference a year makes, right?
After noticing that he would have to be carried inside (too many people, too many breakables!), my sister and I grabbed the camera and headed outside to see what they had in store for us. We never had any need for that in years past because it was just us, and boy were we impressed with everything that was there! They had billy goats and rabbits, a giant playground with all kind of fun things, and tons of room to let Brayden run around.
Problem?
Brayden wouldn’t go more than 2 steps away from us. Maybe it was the number of older kids that were there, or it was an unfamiliar place. I don’t know. But towards the end he was being slightly more adventurous! And it made for a good photo opportunity for me, even though he didn’t look right at me AND smile at the same time. Oh well, I will take what I can get!

What I love about fall…

Fall is hands down my favorite time of year- here’s why!
Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. This is one of my favorite fall treats! I can only drink pumpkin flavored things once in a blue moon, so the rest of the time? You will find me drinking one of these.

Harvest. Although it makes for some long hours for my hubs, and I sometimes feel like a single mom, I love seeing him getting excited about farming. Brayden will LOVE riding along this year, and I know his dad can’t wait for him to join in on the fun!
Trips to the apple orchard. Apple cider, apple cider donuts, carmel apple cider, apple turnovers, and of course, buying apples to make crisp, pies, etc. I LOVE going to the apple orchard. We go at least once every year and I look forward to taking Brayden this year, too!
Football! My husband really could care less about football, so I watch most of it with my parents. I also am a Nebraska Husker fan and LOVE college football. I am so glad football season is here! I get so sad when it leaves.
Fall fashion. I love the boots, the scarves, the cardigans, the hoodies, the jeans, the sweaters- I love it all. I bought new jeans at the Gap not too long ago, and I had to break them out over the weekend. I LOVE them.
What do you love about fall??

trip to the orchard

On Friday, my mom, sister, Brayden, and I headed out for our annual trip to the apple orchard. It was very cold and windy, so Brayden had to bundle up! The only pictures I have are of him in his big boy clothes, because it was too cold to do the pumpkin patch, etc. with him.

I came home with a dozen apple cider donuts (my favorite), a 1/2 gallon of cider, turnovers, and honeycrisp apples. The BEST! I can’t wait to make pie and apple crisp this week! While we were there, I had carmel apple cider- they put carmel sauce in the bottom of a foam cup, fill it with cider, top it with whipped cream and cinnamon, and give you a cinnamon stick to stir the carmel into the cider. Amazing. I love fall!

2 months old!

Time sure is flying! In the next month, I am looking forward to:

  • Taking Brayden to the apple orchard for the first time.
  • His first rides in the combine and tractor.
  • Halloween!
  • Fall weather- hoodies, sweaters, jackets…I LIVE for fall.
  • Hot apple cider.
  • Learning to make apple pie.

Happy October!

fall clothing

Last week, I went on an online shopping spree with my birthday money, and scored some major deals on some great fall clothing. I was in desperate need of new jeans due to the fact that my pre-pregnancy ones basically fall off of me (I was blessed with good genes, and breastfeeding doesn’t hurt). I am a huge believer in quality over quantity, so here is what I ended up with…

The Sweetheart Skinny jean from Old Navy. I have never tried a skinny jean before, but I LOVE them, especially with my boots!
This lightweight cardigan from Old Navy. Perfect for layering, and so soft and comfy!

Curvy jeans from GAP. I love the fit and the material is soft and amazing. GAP’s jeans never disappoint me.

Boyfriend sweater from GAP. I love this deep purple color for fall!

I LOVE graphic tees so I picked these up from American Eagle…can’t beat the buy one, get one 50% off price tag!

I would LOVE to find a reasonably priced, neutral toned trench coat…so I am on the lookout!

What are YOUR favorite fall trends?

fall tv lineup

First of all, let me just say that I am SO excited that fall is here. I love everything about fall: fall clothes (hoodies, sweaters, boots, scarves), football, harvest, going to the apple orchard, and Thanksgiving. To kick it all off, this week my DVR is on complete overload with some of my favorites, along with a couple of new shows! These are my two that I am MOST excited about!

Glee is amazing and I have already got some of the music from iTunes. I am in love. Love love love.

The Office has been one of my obsessions for the last 2-3 years. I can’t WAIT for Thursday night!

I also have on my list: Community, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, The Biggest Loser, The Jay Leno Show, college football, and NFL. GO COLTS!

What do YOU love about fall?

feeling festive!

Fall is my favorite season, but I have never decorated for it because this is the first year that I have had a house to decorate! We usually go all out for Christmas. SO….I decided not to spend a bunch of money on fall decor because I can get great deals on new things for NEXT year. However, I decided that our dining room table needed something….so a trip to Wal-Mart and $7 later…here you have it!

Simple, cute, and I love those dark purple flowers mixed with orange!
