What I Wore Wednesday

I am linking up with The Pleated Poppy today for some fashion inspiration!

That camera tripod I got? Yeah, haven’t had time to set it up. SOON I will make time. SOON.

Ignore my awkward growing-out-bangs-for-my-sister’s-wedding-hair that I have going on.

OH yeah, my sister is getting married in September! :)

Tank Top: Motherhood Maternity (It’s a gray nursing tank)

Cardigan: Gap

Capris: American Eagle

Scarf: Old Navy

This was haircut day for Brayden and I- and about the last week until my scheduled hair appointment, I wear my hair up. It is so thick, I have to get it thinned out every 6 weeks. Don’t hate.

This was the first day I took both kids to WalMart by myself. Sad, right? And FRESH THINNED HAIR! Ahhh, I always feel like 5 pounds lighter.

Sweatshirt: Motherhood Maternity (I know, but it’s comfy!)

Jeans: Gap

Necklace: The Vintage Pearl

This day, I was just running a couple errands with Kenley and having lunch with my parents and sister. And it cooled off here!

Tee: Old Navy

Cardigan: Gap

Scarf: Banana Republic- a Christmas gift from Sheana

Jeans: Gap from 3 years ago. They are two sizes too big, can you tell? My husband was mortified but I just put my belt on tighter.

This is what I wore to the bridal place to bridesmaids dress shop with my sister!

Tank: Old Navy

Cardigan: Target

Skinny Jeans: Banana Republic

Necklace: Lisa Leonard

Can you also tell I am a HUGE fan of gray? Ahhh, it’s like my safety net, for real and now that I see all of these pictures together, I can really see it. There is an entire side of my closet that is just full of gray and black- no color. I know, I am boring.

UPDATE: I was “gifted” new dress clothes this weekend from my hubby over the weekend. No black (except for pants) was my rule- I think you will be pleasantly surprised when I show you soon!

What I Wore Wednesday

This week, I am FINALLY linking up with The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration! I have always wanted to do this, and now that I am doing the no-buying-clothing-for-a-whole-year-challenge, I have to get creative with what I already have.

This photo was taken last week (I think last Wednesday) before I took Brayden to speech therapy.

Tank: Motherhood Maternity nursing tank

Gray sweatshirt/blazer: Tommy Hilfiger Outlet

jeans: GAP

scarf: The Accessories Nook

I am a HUGE fan of this gray sweatshirt/blazer because it buttons halfway up and it comfortable while being somewhat structured. Also? Very accessible for nursing which is important when I am out and about with the kids!

Next up: Friday, when I had to take Kenley to the doctor. She had been running a fever/not sleeping well, so I thought it was her ears. Turns out it was just a little cold, but I am glad I had her checked out before the weekend!

Jeans: Gap

Tank: Target

Sweater: Gap

Scarf: The Accessories Nook

As you can see, I am a huge fan of this striped scarf! Very comfy and provides a little more coverage for me up top when I wear tank tops.

And lastly, this is before Kindermusik class on Monday! And yes, the only full length mirrors in our house are on either side of the bathtub with that awful gold framing. And yes, I have to stand INSIDE the bathtub for it to be close enough. Next purchase? Tripod and remote for my camera. For real. Anyways…

Skinny Jeans: Banana Republic. My absolute favorite pair of jeans hands down in the entire world. Best money spent after having Kenley. Seriously. I love Banana’s denim line.

Chevron top: Gap

Black Sweater: American Eagle from like 4 years ago.

SO- there it is. These posts are really fun! I am hoping to have better photos from now on, but hey- the iPhone/bathtub photos at least give you SOMETHING to laugh at….

Newest Obsession

I cannot get enough of infinity scarves! I am in LOVE with them! I ordered this one from The Pleated Poppy and it is just stunning.

Did you see it in my post yesterday? Here is another photo of me with it on.

Love it! SO comfy!

I ordered this from Old Navy as well. And I haven’t stopped looking on Etsy either! BUT we have this thing called a budget. I WOULD like to get one in like a blue color and a purple, or maybe a mustard or orange. The possibilities are endless!

Found here.

I would LOVE to get my hands on this one from the Missoni for Target line, but I am pretty sure that won’t be happening anytime soon! I went to Target the day after and they had one mini skirt, no kids things, a few comforters, and some makeup cases. I mean, I like the design of the line, don’t get me wrong, but I wasn’t going to be heartbroken if I couldn’t find anything!

What is one of your favorite fall trends right now?

Steppin’ Out Saturday!

Happy Sunday, everyone! I have never linked up to Steppin’ Out Saturday before, but now is just as good of a time as any, right? Ignore the cell phone quality- my camera was out in the car, and I knew that if I went out to get it, Brayden would just want to leave, and then this would have never happened.

Jeans: Old Navy Maternity

T-shirt: Old Navy (NOT maternity, I might add!)

Sweater: Maurices

Scarf: The Pleated Poppy

I was so excited about my new infinity scarf that I just HAD to wear it! Brayden and I didn’t have any special plans. We went out to the farm to see Brandon and let Brayden run around and play in the combine/tractors/trucks. Then we went to pick up Brandon’s contacts at the eye doctor and stopped in at a home decorating store that a friend of ours owns. I picked up a few fall decorations for the living room (post to come!) and she is almost done with a wall hanging for baby girl’s room! I can’t wait to get the picture up so I can do the nursery reveal this week as well.

Clothing Finds

About 95% of my maternity clothes from when I was pregnant with Brayden are definitely clothes that I am wearing this time around. BUT, when I see a couple cute new things, I just can’t resist!
I got this dress at Target. I have two other maternity dresses, but this one is a bit more for everyday running around, not for a dressier event. It is SO comfortable. You can’t really tell in the photo, but it is a cowl neck and the band around the middle is a stretchy cotton. Love.
I also got this tank/cap sleeved top (I can’t really tell what it is!) for the times that I DO have to be a bit dressier. I love it with my black capri pants, and I love that the side detail is actually braided. Plus, it’s a bright color which makes me ready for summer!

I’m Feeling Like Spring

Like most of the country, we were hit pretty hard by this week’s blizzard. Brandon has been busy plowing the streets here in town, and my dad came this way to help just because of the sheer amount of snow. We haven’t had snow like this since we moved into our house, so the drifts are pretty impressive! Brayden and I are getting a little on the stir crazy side, so I think by tomorrow we will be busting out of here for a little while, just to change up the scenery.

In the meantime, here are some spring clothes I am drooling over! Hopefully spring is on it’s way after this!

This knit cardigan from Old Navy
This frayed top from Gap
This silk cowlneck top from Anthropologie
Cargo pants from Banana Republic
What gets you in the mood for spring?

Jockey Person to Person

I have been subbing at the grade school that I used to teach at here and there the last couple of weeks. I notice that some of the teachers were wearing these pants that looked super comfortable! One of them had it on with a nice sweater and dress shoes, and another one was wearing a solid, zip up hoodie and comfy tennis shoes. So, being the nosy person I am (and that I LIVE FOR COMFORT) I asked about them.

Turns out, they are made by Jockey. It is called the Person to Person line and they have consultants that do parties just like Pampered Chef, Lia Sophia, or Tupperware. So, I went online to see what they had to offer! I was pleasantly surprised to see that their clothing line is versatile, comfortable, and something that I would totally use. I filled out some information to have a consultant contact me, and she came over to do a one on one appointment with me yesterday.

It was nothing short of amazing! The pants- oh my word- I didn’t want to take them off! They are so incredibly comfortable, can be worn as dress pants or more casual, never fade, don’t stretch out, etc. The jackets that go with them are great (can be dressed up or down), they make workout wear, a little black dress that you can wear a million different ways, and a shawl that can be worn as a wrap top, worn BACKWARDS, it’s incredible!

Take this second photo, for instance. It’s definitely work appropriate as it is shown. Remove the scarf and belt, throw on some tennis shoes, and you have an outfit for running errands on the weekends! What a wonderful way to maximize your wardrobe.

I ended up buying 2 pairs of pants and the modal wrap cardigan (which can be worn endless ways!) and I can’t wait to get them! I highly recommend them, and who knows, I might even have a Jockey party soon!

Personal Style

If you ever came to my house during the week, chances are you would find me in a work t-shirt and yoga pants. I HATE wearing jeans around the house for more than a couple of hours, and if it is just me and Brayden at home, what is the point of putting “real” clothes on?

photo from gap.com

Turns out, my hubby is not a huge fan of the yoga pants. I mean, I wore out 2 pairs while pregnant with Brayden, so I can see where he is coming from! But I really don’t have my own sense of style outside of my comfort zone. I have a lot of clothes, but I am in between pants sizes right now (which is an entirely different post!) and honestly, it isn’t much of a priority for me unless we are actually going somewhere.

What do I wish my personal style was? Here is my inspiration pictures:

(boyfriend sweater from the Gap)
(skinny distressed jeans from the Gap)

Shadowsleeve cardigan- Anthropologie

(Lift-Off jacket- Anthropologie)
Comfy, but sexy. Stylish, but on a budget. Meaning I won’t be purchasing any of these clothes anytime soon. Maybe jewelry (which I rarely wear because Brayden will pull on it) or scarves (which my hubby doesn’t understand) or somedays, even makeup! ::gasp::
On a deeper note on this same subject (is this possible? I say yes!) I think that my lack of interest in wardrobe stems from me not being able to give up the fact that my baby is no longer a baby, but a toddler. ::shudders:: I can’t use the whole “I just had a baby, I am tired, insert new momma excuses here. I mean, I am still tired 99% of the time, but I guess it’s time to start putting some thought into what I am wearing outside of my home.
How do you get out of a fashion rut?

hello retail therapy!

Here is the dress I got at Maurices for the wedding we have on Saturday. I LOVE it. I have some cute black open toed flats and some chunky jewelry that will complete the look. It is supposed to be 90 degrees here, so this dress with help keep me cool!
And you know I can’t just buy ONE thing….

cute jacket

I stopped at Maurices the other day and this cute jacket caught my eye…

It was only $29, is 100% cotton, super comfy, and very slimming!
