Brayden’s Birthday Recap

Some of you may remember that I had a really hard time when Brayden turned one. That whole week I spent crying, sobbing, sad that he wasn’t my baby anymore.

So when plans for Brayden’s 2nd birthday started to roll in, my husband (being the sweetheart that he is) wanted to make sure I was emotionally OK and not to overdo on the party. He told me to keep it simple, and with our busy time of year right smack dab in the middle of party planning, I really had no choice.

I ordered the cake from a local lady. It was a 2 layer white sheet cake, and there wasn’t that much leftover!

I also got chocolate cupcakes, white cupcakes, some fun cups for the kids, and the birthday print from Sarah.

His personalized plate I got from Zulily awhile back- I love it!

Brayden had lots of helpers at his party!

He couldn’t wait to dive in to the cupcakes!

Our pilots that are working for my dad got him this fourwheeler- He loves it!

He was absolutely spoiled rotten, and it took us forever to open gifts! He got lots of Cars things, new books, tractors, semi’s, and clothes. He was a very, very happy 2 year old! He did awesome at his party- everyone got a huge kick out of him, and we were just happy to celebrate.
I should also mention that Brandon’s grandma and aunt made BBQ and fruit salad, I brought chips and goldfish crackers, and we had lemonade. Just simple things, but it all came together and we had a great party.

Happy Birthday, Brayden

Two years ago at exactly 6:32pm, I gave birth to a charming, sweet, handsome little boy.
It’s hard to believe that you have been in our lives for two years, but also harder to imagine what we did without you. You made us first time parents, and we are forever blessed to have you!
Your daddy and I love you more than words can even express, and in just two short years, you have managed to change our outlook on life.

We love watching you learn and grow, and hope that we are doing our best to guide you down a successful path for your life.

I never knew how much being a mother would change me.

I never knew my heart could feel or contain this much love.
Happy 2nd birthday, sweet boy. We love you to the moon and back.

Almost 2 already?

I just ordered invitations for Brayden’s 2nd birthday party.

2nd birthday.

WHAT? When did this happen?

We are doing a Cars/Lightning McQueen theme, and I ordered invitations off of Etsy. They are going to be so great- I can’t wait to get them! I also ordered some return address labels, and inquired about a cake. His birthday falls on a Sunday, probably right in the middle of spray season, but I just decided to do it late afternoon. We generally don’t work sunup to sundown on Sundays, and since we already know about it, it should be easy! Let’s just hope it goes better than last year….

I don’t want to go too overboard with decorations, but I have been keeping my eyes peeled. Brayden LOVES Lightning McQueen so it’s going to be hard not to just buy it all! I DO think I will splurge for a new shirt with his name and a picture of Lightning. We’ll see.

It’s fun to plan, but it sure came up on me fast!

birthday recap

I have never really been freaked out by turning a certain age. 16 was so fun, 18 even more fun, and 21? Well, I will let you figure that one out. (It was a Tuesday night, and Tuesday is 1/2 price margarita night!) But 25? I am freaked out by 25.

Closer to 30. No longer in my early twenties, but mid-twenties. Yes, I am officially freaked out already, I have no idea what will happen when I turn 30.

I guess I always pictured having more than one child at age 25 (although, we seriously couldn’t have done things any faster!) and I seriously can’t believe it’s been over 7 years since I graduated high school. Where is the time going?

Anyways, back to the point of this post… :)  Last Saturday morning I woke up to Brandon saying “Check your e-mail on your phone. You might have to look in your spam folder.” It was 6:30am when Brayden wanted to get the party started, so I wasn’t quite ready to be awake, let alone hunt for an e-mail. I found it though- a very nice e-greeting card from my hubby stating that my parents would be watching Brayden that evening so that we could go to dinner! Yay!

I then got a second e-mail that said that Brayden had gotten me a gift card to Amazon.com. How sweet! Brandon knows my slight addiction with Amazon.com, so I am excited to browse- although I am saving up for a new lens for my camera, so I might just wait and get that at a later time.

So we get to dinner, and my best friend Jacqui and her hubby Mike are there to meet us! It was SO nice to have a wonderful dinner with them, since I don’t think we have ever gone out just the four of us. Afterwards, Brandon and I hit up another place for a couple of margaritas and some good conversation, then headed home.

(Me and Jacqui, my BFF!)
Overall, it was a great day. I am so blessed to have so many good friends and family wishing me another year of happiness! We are going out to celebrate Brandon’s birthday tonight, and then celebrating both of ours plus my sister’s tomorrow night at my parents. And when September rolls around? I think we have 11 birthdays that month. The celebrating never ends!

Brayden’s 1st Birthday- Cake Inspiration

Many of you may not know this, but my sister likes to decorate cakes on the side, and she is pretty darn good at it! So, in order to save some moolah on the party and to let my sis be in on the fun, I am more than likely going to have her make Brayden’s cake. I am going to do a small, 8 inch round cake for him and then probably cupcakes/sheet cakes for everyone else. I really like the looks of these cakes, but I will have to see what my sister can come up with!

Brayden’s One Year Pictures

Here are some of the pictures I took of Brayden for his one year pictures. I can’t believe my baby is going to be a year old! I want to do one more shoot in another outfit, so there will be more to come!

Brayden’s 1st Birthday- Decorations

I was under strict orders from my husband not to “go crazy” with party decorations for Brayden’s first birthday because “he is young and won’t remember any of it.” While he has a valid point, my baby boy IS going to be ONE, and I think that we should have the proper decorations!

I hit up Party City’s website and found these….

(photo from Party City’s website)
I didn’t order all of it- just the small plates, napkind, candle, and the high chair decorations for Brayden. Oh, and some dangly things to hang up in the garage. I will probably fill in the rest with solid colored tablecloths, silverware, and cups. I can see how some people can go totally overboard (I spent $60 just on what I mentioned above, but I had to get 80+ of everything) so I feel pretty good about what I have coming! Next up: cake ideas!

Brayden’s 1st Birthday- Preparations

For Brayden’s 1st Birthday, we are keeping things pretty low key. We are inviting family and friends over for cake and ice cream to celebrate, and having the party at our house in the garage/backyard/new patio.
I ordered the invitations from Shutterfly…
(sorry for the crappy cell phone quality- I just cut off our address instead of blurring it out)
…and I love how they turned out! I wasn’t going to use these pictures of Brayden, but after I saw the color on the invite, it looks like I totally planned it that way. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.
My sister makes cakes, but I haven’t quite asked/convinced her to do it, only because she will be babysitting Brayden and studying for her national boards, so I don’t know if she would be up for it. I want to do something either jungle themed, car themed, or of course, there is always farming! As of right now, I am definitely undecided on the cake!
Another thing that I am struggling with are favors. There will be a few kids there, the oldest of which is 4, so I want to have SOMETHING for them, but I don’t know what to do! Suggestions? Please?
