Some of you may remember that I had a really hard time when Brayden turned one. That whole week I spent crying, sobbing, sad that he wasn’t my baby anymore.
I just ordered invitations for Brayden’s 2nd birthday party.
2nd birthday.
WHAT? When did this happen?
We are doing a Cars/Lightning McQueen theme, and I ordered invitations off of Etsy. They are going to be so great- I can’t wait to get them! I also ordered some return address labels, and inquired about a cake. His birthday falls on a Sunday, probably right in the middle of spray season, but I just decided to do it late afternoon. We generally don’t work sunup to sundown on Sundays, and since we already know about it, it should be easy! Let’s just hope it goes better than last year….
I don’t want to go too overboard with decorations, but I have been keeping my eyes peeled. Brayden LOVES Lightning McQueen so it’s going to be hard not to just buy it all! I DO think I will splurge for a new shirt with his name and a picture of Lightning. We’ll see.
It’s fun to plan, but it sure came up on me fast!
I have never really been freaked out by turning a certain age. 16 was so fun, 18 even more fun, and 21? Well, I will let you figure that one out. (It was a Tuesday night, and Tuesday is 1/2 price margarita night!) But 25? I am freaked out by 25.
Closer to 30. No longer in my early twenties, but mid-twenties. Yes, I am officially freaked out already, I have no idea what will happen when I turn 30.
I guess I always pictured having more than one child at age 25 (although, we seriously couldn’t have done things any faster!) and I seriously can’t believe it’s been over 7 years since I graduated high school. Where is the time going?
Anyways, back to the point of this post…
Last Saturday morning I woke up to Brandon saying “Check your e-mail on your phone. You might have to look in your spam folder.” It was 6:30am when Brayden wanted to get the party started, so I wasn’t quite ready to be awake, let alone hunt for an e-mail. I found it though- a very nice e-greeting card from my hubby stating that my parents would be watching Brayden that evening so that we could go to dinner! Yay!
I then got a second e-mail that said that Brayden had gotten me a gift card to Amazon.com. How sweet! Brandon knows my slight addiction with Amazon.com, so I am excited to browse- although I am saving up for a new lens for my camera, so I might just wait and get that at a later time.
So we get to dinner, and my best friend Jacqui and her hubby Mike are there to meet us! It was SO nice to have a wonderful dinner with them, since I don’t think we have ever gone out just the four of us. Afterwards, Brandon and I hit up another place for a couple of margaritas and some good conversation, then headed home.
Many of you may not know this, but my sister likes to decorate cakes on the side, and she is pretty darn good at it! So, in order to save some moolah on the party and to let my sis be in on the fun, I am more than likely going to have her make Brayden’s cake. I am going to do a small, 8 inch round cake for him and then probably cupcakes/sheet cakes for everyone else. I really like the looks of these cakes, but I will have to see what my sister can come up with!
I was under strict orders from my husband not to “go crazy” with party decorations for Brayden’s first birthday because “he is young and won’t remember any of it.” While he has a valid point, my baby boy IS going to be ONE, and I think that we should have the proper decorations!
I hit up Party City’s website and found these….
