Birthday Recap {#2}

Over the weekend, we had Brayden’s birthday party! I tried to keep it pretty simple- family and a few friends- because this time of year is a busy time of year for my husband.

Birthday Banner

Don’t you love the big mark on the wall? Ha! It’s from when we took the cabinet down… and it’s a winter project. So stay tuned for that. Brandon was like why are you using tape to hang that banner? Well, because it looks like it doesn’t really matter since it needs fixed/patched/repainted anyway. I told him it was motivation. He wasn’t impressed.

My friend Heather made the banner/cupcake topper PDF’s- all I had to do was cut and assemble! I ended up only making a few just for this plate of cupcakes. I honestly didn’t start early enough to make everything I wanted!

We had the food inside thanks to the abundance of flies, but opened gifts and chit chatted outside. It was pretty decent out- about 90*- and the shade of our backyard is pretty nice that time of day!

Mr. Paxton even came to play with Kenley! :) LOVE this little boy.

I wish time would slow down just a little.

Brandon’s LEAST favorite thing is having photos taken, but we are rarely all dressed up at the exact same time. I actually REALLY like this, and had it blown up for above the fireplace.

I won’t lie, it took me a day or so to recover from the party! Brayden has a lot of neat new age appropriate toys (hooray for birthdays and beating the boredom!) and Kenley is like hey, awesome! New stuff for ME to get into… Our days are not much different, I just take away different toys! The party was a success, and keeping it simple is DEFINITELY the way to go!

  1. We had Axle a really simple party this year too. Initially we had a BIG bash planned but Annalee came along and we had to cancel. I was so aggrevated, I was dead set on a big party. After all was said and done though the simple party turned out so great. I’m glad things worked out like they did.

    Looks like your Little Man had a great party. I love the family picture you all took :)

  2. Super cute family pic! Love Kenley’s summer dress and matching headband.

  3. Oh, and Brayden couldn’t look any happier with his big tractor cake! Cute tie in with the rest of your decor.

  4. Looks like everyone had a grand time! I’m a fan of the simple party as well. I think sometimes the big events can turn into more of a “thing” for the parents than a party for the child. Also, if you are too wiped out to enjoy the party yourself, I think that is not the ideal situation. Love the cake! also, yay! I saw The Grant Life’s button!
