Bridal Shower Weekend

This past weekend was my sister’s bridal shower and bachelorette party! I could not WAIT for it to get here, and now I am sad that it is over. We had an absolute blast!

My sister, mom, and I.

All I did for the shower was arrange for the church, send out the invitations, and Eric’s aunts took care of everything else. The cake was delicious, the food delicious, and the decorations were simple and so cute! They did a LOVELY job taking care of everything.

Jamie got a LOT of awesome things, too. She is blessed for sure! Now hopefully soon they will find a house/apartment to put it all in!

Right after the shower, the two of us plus six other girls piled into my mom’s suburban and headed to Chicago! We had dinner reservations at Maggiano’s downtown, then planned to go to Howl at the Moon, which is a dueling piano bar. It was SO much fun!

One of the funniest parts of the night was that the entire time at Howl at the Moon, we were standing behind a table of girls, hoping they would leave so we could rest our feet! But somehow (we still don’t know) that table got taken over by a different group of girls WHILE WE WERE STANDING THERE. No idea how that happens. After our feet decided to give out, we got cabs back to the hotel bar and hung out there for an hour or so. It was the perfect ending!

In the morning, we ventured out for bagels and coffee, loaded up, and headed home. Not without more excitement- as we get back on the Interstate headed south out of Chicago, the sky looked BLACK. There are two things that are not my favorite: driving in lots of traffic and driving in heavy rain. Those fears combined and I drove through the worst storm I had ever driven in. It was like driving through a tidal wave! We made it home and it was back to mommy duty! That was the first time I had left Kenley overnight- I missed them both!

I was so glad that we got to celebrate Jamie and Eric’s upcoming wedding with a girl’s only night out. Mostly because I totally needed that time with my sister, but also because now we are down to less than 2 months before the big day!

  1. it looks like you had a great time at the shower — and i love that dress on you too!

  2. How fun!!! Her shower looked beautiful, as do all you girls. What a pretty cake and good idea to divide the fruit salad into individual fruit cups.
