Birthday Recap- Part 1

Brayden’s birthday was on a Tuesday and his party not until Saturday, so I decided we would just have a small little celebration anyway on Tuesday. The plan was to go to the children’s museum not far from here, pizza for dinner, and he could open the couple of things we got for him.

Well, the weekend before he started having this weird rash/bumps on his nose. Finally, one of them broke open, so it was to the pediatrician first thing on Monday morning. Diagnosis? Impetigo. Basically, that is a kind of strep that can be in the nose, and when he rubs or picks the blisters, they open and spread. He was contagious until the antibiotic was in his system for 24 hours. So no children’s museum… I was so bummed.

Plan B was to just go to WalMart, get a cake, and have it over at the airport because everyone was working over there. I got pizza for lunch for everyone and Brayden got to open one gift from my mom.

He had been talking about the specific train from his Thomas stuff that he wanted- Diesel 10. And honestly, if I could have made one appear out of thin air one night, I would have, because I was SO tired of hearing about it. Thankfully, Grandma pulled through.

I went to WalMart to grab a cake, and they actually had a Thomas one! It wasn’t really anything special- but Brayden loved it, and it was the perfect size.

My dad was flying, but right when we did the cake, he came in to get loaded- so he came inside, sang Happy Birthday with us, then left again. I thought it was so sweet.

After Brandon got home, we let Brayden open his other gifts from us: Ice Age movie, a Thomas Train set, boots like Brandon’s, and his new chair from Pottery Barn Kids. I’d say he made out pretty well. The chair was a necessity as he was quickly outgrowing the other one!
