5 Things I’m Loving Right Now {February Edition}

It’s time again to link up with Maegan for 5 Things I’m Loving Right Now!

1. Caramel Frappacinos from Starbucks. I am seriously obsessed, and I know it’s cold outside, but I can’t help but want one of these every time! It’s my once a week treat when I take Brayden to speech therapy. (image found here) I need to break this habit, see number 3!

2. My Otterbox Reflex case for my iPhone. I love Otterbox anyways, but when I found out they made a slider case, I had to get it. Now, I can just slide the bottom of the case off to plug it in to my dock- way easier than the other cases I have tried in the past. Plus, it protects against my toddler! BONUS!

3. Vemma Bode. It’s a new weight loss plan that Brandon and I are following. I am only doing part of it since I am still nursing, but I am excited for the results, and excited about being a part of this company! Check out this video to see more:  Meet Marla.

4. Pinterest. Enough said. Addicted.

5. Blogs. I have found a lot of new blogs recently, and I am excited to have some fresh material in my reader! I am finding some really neat people/bloggers/handmade shops. LOVE it!

Saturday Randoms

  • Hubby has his eyes fixed with LASIK surgery this past week! Much needed. He isn’t a very easy patient, though, that is FOR SURE. He isn’t a “rester”, he’s a “I constantly have to be doing something” kind of person.
  • Kenley has a slight cold, but I really thought it was an ear infection. A trip to the pediatrician yesterday said otherwise, and she is definitely feeling better. I was getting concerned because she wasn’t latching/eating very well. A sore throat explains it!
  • Low key weekend planned here. I am going to see a couple girlfriends this morning then probably just hang out at my parents house. Not sure what the boys have planned but I am sure it will be a good time.
  • Brayden climbed in our bed when I got up with Kenley and fell back asleep. The snoring coming from that room was pretty epic.
  • Brayden’s new word this week: Mine. HELP US ALL.

What are your weekend plans?

Photo Challenge

This week, I am linking up with The Paper Mama for her photo challenge! I did one or two of these posts at the end of last year, and finally am back into keeping up! This week’s challenege? Feet!

I know, a repeat photo- but I just can’t resist this photo of Baby Paxton! And just for fun, another one that I hadn’t posted.

Baby feet get me every time!

Pinterest Saves the Day

If you aren’t on Pinterest, you are seriously missing out. I am a total addict! Right after Kenley was born, I was in a meal plan slump. She was cluster feeding and it was hard for me to even get something in the microwave as opposed to actually cooking a meal. Now that we are out of that cluster feeding stage and I am back in the groove in the kitchen, I am so glad I have Pinterest to help me try some new things. Here are some links to recipes I have tried and that we LOVED.

Chicken, Tortellini, and Spinach Soup: Admittedly, Brandon is not a soup person, but he RAVED about this and can’t wait until I make it again. So quick and easy!

Tangy BBQ Pork Roast:  Made this last week, and it was incredible. I used the leftovers to make BBQ Pork Quesadillas the following night! YUM!

Zesty Chicken Marinara: Made this last week as well, and it was tasty!

Chocolate Chip Cookies: This is my new go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe. They stay chewy for DAYS after they are baked. Yum!

I have about 125-ish recipes pinned, and I am making my way through them! Up this week? Cheesy Chicken Spaghetti, Blueberry Buttermilk Coffee Cake, Honey Beer bread, and maybe cookies of some sort, too!

Baby Paxton

I got to meet Paxton next week, and he was gracious enough (and patient enough!) for me to take some pictures of him. Here he is at 9 days old.

Isn’t he a sweetie? I had a great time visiting the new parents and meeting their little guy. I am sure there will be a few more visits in the coming weeks- I can’t get enough of him!

Week in Review- Photo Dump

Pouty Buzz Lightyear, Happy girl playing, crazy weather on my way to see my BFF, new headband holder for K, umm BALD SPOT thanks to postpartum hair loss, Baby Paxton (worth the drive!), happy K in cute jammies.

We had a pretty busy week this week! And by pretty busy I mean I was busy consoling a pouty toddler who refuses to part with his paci. It’s exhausting. There would be more pictures of him if he wasn’t so pouty all the time. He is just… 2. SO 2. He fits the definition for sure. I do my best to be patient with him, but it gets tough when he is just saying “mom” 100 times about the thing I already fixed/did. I think if he would just settle down and take 2 seconds and look around he would notice these things.

But you know, he’s 2. So I won’t hold my breath.

In between the whining for paci, we did lots of puzzles, reading, and watched Shrek 2 a few times. It is definitely one of my favorite movies, so I don’t get too upset when he chooses it! We even got some snow, so he got to go ride with Brandon and push snow. He loves it!

Happy Saturday!

Friday Flashback

Yesterday, I FINALLY got to meet my best friend’s new little boy, Paxton.

He is SUCH a good baby, and I got some great shots of him, which I will share later! Happy Friday!

Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop- Link Up!

I am joining up with Gussy and linking up with her Inspiration Workshop! This week’s topic? Bedrooms!

It is no secret that our master bedroom is the most neglected room in our house. We don’t have a headboard/footboard, there isn’t much on the wall, and the boring curtain panels leave a LOT to be desired. If I had to start over, I would do something resembling these photos.

From here

Isn’t this beautiful? I love that this room has space for a couch/reading area. Love. And I could seriously sleep in that bed for days. SO cozy looking!

2011 Dream Home Bedroom at Merchandise Mart contemporary bedroom

Here is another favorite! I love the fireplace in this room, and the color of the walls. It is no secret that I am a HUGE fan of gray!

I really, really hope to be able to purchase some bedroom furniture this year. I have always loved the look of a sleigh bed. This one is gorgeous and would really go well with the other wood accents in our home.

Basically, I need functional, cozy, and fluffy!

Productive? We can hope!

Tomorrow, my mom is graciously taking Brayden to speech therapy so I can stay home and do some cleaning! WOO! Just what I needed after Sunday’s post. Just some time alone to get my list started.

Remember how I said I wanted a dresser for K’s room? Just so happened that my aunt had one that she said I could “borrow”. She painted it a LONG time ago and loves it, but doesn’t have a place for it. SO that is my biggest project tomorrow while Brayden is gone at therapy.

I had a pretty long day with Brayden today. He gets so frustrated SO easily and I think it’s because he is trying so hard to communicate. It’s aggravating. And the paci? Still a battle for him to give it up. UGH. I was about to lose it. I hate feeling that way, but the incessant whining and crying for nothing was about to drive me over the edge.

Tomorrow is a clean slate, right?

Whirlwind

Lately, I feel like I am running in a hamster wheel and there is no way to get off.

If I am in the kitchen, I feel like I clean up and put away and wipe things down and then 20 minutes later it’s a mess again.

Same with my desk. The end table next to where I feed Kenley. The bathrooms. The living room. The bedroom.

EVERYTHING.

I feel like when I am not feeding K, I am doing 100 other things, making time for Brayden, etc. But at the end of the day? It looks like I have done nothing.

It’s frustrating.

I have stuff that I received for Christmas still out because I need to reorganize the kitchen and that is a 10 day project I SWEAR. We want to take out a part of the cabinets, but then we would have to redo the flooring, and find a place for all that stuff, and it’s just not in the budget. I am annoyed by the changing table in the nursery. I want K to have a dresser but they are so dang expensive. I just want the stuff organized and hidden.

It’s always something.

I am trying to feel content but when things feel chaotic, I can’t help but want them another way.

Please tell me I am not the only one.
