It is easier to take his pictures outside, because he isn’t terribly fond of the grass so he stays put! But he did try to eat some of it!

I can’t breathe out of my nose for the second day in a row. It is SO incredibly frustrating, and I think Brayden is starting to get whatever I have as well. He is coughing, sneezing, etc. What a not so wonderful way to start out our already super busy weekend. The Neti-pot and I are best friends, as is Sudafed.
It didn’t stop us from spending the day with Laura and Caden at her in laws pool though. I figured if I was going to be miserable either way, that the boys should have fun. Wouldn’t you know it, my child is scared of the pool. He couldn’t climb up my shoulders any faster to not have to put his feet in. We tried everything. Starting in slow, splashing, putting him in a floatie and swirling him around. Nothing worked. We tried eating, we tried napping. As soon as I laid him down in the Pack N Play, he woke right up, smiled, and started dancing. A clever boy he is! SO, we went back out to the pool. And then this is what happened….
After swaying him around in the pool, he started to fall asleep. Laura took this picture- how cute! 20 minutes after this, he was sleeping on a makeshift bed of towels in the shade. He proceeded to sleep for an hour and a half! Maybe the next time at the pool he will enjoy it more.
We have a busy weekend planned, so today I am resting, hoping to kick this cold. Happy weekend!
For us, Brandon hates clutter on the floor. I like putting my clothes next to the bed at night so in case I have to get up with Brayden, I don’t have to fumble in the closet to get them. He likes his underwear folded, whereas I could care less. Mine are wadded up in the sock drawer. Brandon likes his shirts all hanging in the closet the same way. At first, I never cared, but now I catch myself doing this to my own stuff too. Scary what happens when you live with someone who is particular about certain things!
So, I pose a question. What habits of your spouse did you think were weird, but now you catch yourself doing them?
I got a pretty terrible haircut right before Brayden was born. I was going for the asymmetrical bob, but growing it out, but somehow I got more layers than I had ever wanted.
This was what I wanted to stick with….
Here is my inspiration for my ultimate goal…because I used to have long hair!
I love her side swept bangs! Love love love.
My hair is naturally stick straight, so it would have to be styled this way.
Thoughts? I feel like it is going to take forever for my hair to grow. I have been getting it thinned out and slightly shaped every 8 weeks- that’s it. No length taken off, nothing. And we are just at neck level.
Any other bad haircut experience? You KNOW you want to share!
…and you both roll over at the same time, towards each other.
My right eyeball feels like it is on FIRE. Brandon accidentally poked me in the eye last night right before bed, and as the day has gone on, it feels worse. I think I will be headed to bed early in hopes that some rest will help it heal.
You all know how much I love Glee, and this past week’s episode had me dancing along…even Brayden loves this song now! Everytime I listen to it, he starts bouncing up and down. It is super adorable.
This is going to be a very, very busy weekend! I am starting out my weekend going to garage sales with my friend Laura, sans boys! Thanks to my mom for keeping Brayden so that I can go, get some good deals (hopefully) and then get back! Tonight, we will be at the high school graduation for Brandon’s stepbrother and cousin, and my brother’s girlfriend. My parents are watching Brayden so that I don’t have to keep him sitting still for an hour and a half.
Saturday, we have no plans, so I look forward to getting some things done around the house, and possibly taking pics for Brayden’s birthday invitations. I really need to do better about doing actual “shoots” with him instead of just randomness all the time.
Sunday we have a graduation party. One word: cake!
What are you all up to?
With the realization that Brayden’s first birthday is just over 2 months away (**AHHH!!**) I have started planning his party. I had no idea that this would be so incredibly overwhelming, and really, it shouldn’t be. At first, my idea was to have a cookout at our house- burgers, chips, a couple side dishes, drinks, and cake. But then I started on the list of guests to invite, and there is just no way I can afford to feed EVERYONE that would come! It’s not that I don’t WANT to, I just don’t want to spend the money. So why am I feeling guilty pangs about it?
When did it become a “tradition” to feed your entire extended family plus dogs plus third cousins twice removed? Ok, I am exaggerating, but still. It is a FIRST birthday party. If you have a small amount of people, that is fine. I just don’t want to spend my entire grocery budget for a month on ONE party.
I think we will just have cake and ice cream, have it in the afternoon, before dinner time, and call it good.
In relation to this topic, I read online somewhere (I can’t remember now) that it is NOT proper etiquette to have a child open his or her presents in front of people at a birthday party. I would have to lean towards agreeing- it is time consuming, there could be duplicate gifts from family members that could cause issues, and if there are other children there, it is very distracting to them. (Again, if you have a small crowd, not as big of a deal. I am talking like 75+ people) However, I have only been to kids’ parties where this is done. How do I go about NOT having this happen at Brayden’s party without coming off harsh and ungrateful? I know there will be at LEAST 50 people, and it just seems so overwhelming, especially for a child that will only be one. Any advice or thoughts?
